Thank you for your support for the Baptist General Association of Virginia’s efforts to support Ukranian Baptists to assist with humanitarian needs. Our members donated a total of $485.00 through UBC to the BGAV Ukraine Fund, channeled to Ukraine through the European Baptist Federation (EBF), of which Ukrainian Baptists are members; the moneys helped purchase food, hygiene items, medicine, blankets, and needed items for the internally displaced people (IDPs). Although our church emphasis is over, you may still give by credit card by going online to Be sure to specify Ukraine Aid on the drop-down menu.

As the Missions Committee considers other ways we can help, our Missions partner, Baptist World Alliance, is involved through Baptist World Aid, collaborating with Cooperative Baptist Fellowship to work through NGO’s and other denominations both on the ground in Ukraine and in Eastern Europe. Most churches in areas of heavy fighting have been destroyed, so the leaders share these prayer points: pray for a just peace; for separated families; and for strength, endurance, wisdom, and courage. You may watch Dr. Elijah Brown’s video on Another partner of Baptist Groups fighting for Religious Liberty especially in Ukraine is 21Wilberforce Freedom Center, founded by John Leland Center’s first president, Randall Everett. There Shall  Come Forth a Shoot from Jesse

There shall come forth a shoot from Jesse,

And a branch shall grow out of his roots.

There shall come forth a shoot from Jesse,

And the Spirit of God shall rest on Him.

The spirit of wisdom and love,

The spirit of counsel and might,

The spirit of knowledge and truth,

The true gift of the glory of God.

There shall come forth a shoot from Jesse...

O come, Emmanuel, come.

Emmanuel, come, come soon,

Come soon.

Scripture Readings:

Psalm 136:1, 23-26

Romans 12:9-21

arr. John Ness Beck

For seed-time and harvest

and the good will of men,

We give thanks to God the Father once again;

For shelter in winter,

for the thaw in the spring,

Our praise and thanksgiving

to the Lord now we bring.

For those we have loved

who have gone on before

Through that shining bright celestial door;

For all who shall follow in their place,

We implore Thy continuing saving grace.

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;

Praise Him, all creatures here below;

Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;

Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost.

Words by John Ness Beck and Thomas Ken

Tune: Simple Gifts, Joseph Brackett Jr. (1797-1882),

Psalm 150

Louis Lewandowski

arr. Lorrain Kingsley

Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

Praise the Lord in His holy place.

Praise the Lord in His firmament.

Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

Praise ye the Lord in the firmament

of all His power.

Sing ye to Him for His great

and mighty wonders!

Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

O praise Him, praise Him with trumpet,

And praise Him with psaltery and harp.

O praise Him with timbrel,

And praise Him with dancing,

O praise Him with stringed instruments.

O praise Him with cymbals sounding strong.

Let everything that hath breath praise Him,

Praise ye Him, praise the Lord.

Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

Words adapted from Psalm 150 by Lorrain Kingsley.
